Tip to change the keyboard layout for your choice

To have Windows change the keyboard layout simply open the Control Panel, select the Keyboard Applet and then select Add.

To change the keyboard layout manually you need to point the preload\1 Key in the Registry to the appropriate Key at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ keyboard layouts. To do this follow the directions below. 

Note: Preload\2 is used if you want to be able to switch between two keyboard layouts.

For Windows 9x and ME:
You will need to edit the Registry Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ keyboard layout\ preload\1, change the Default setting to the Key name listed below next to the keyboard layout name you want. You will also need to extract the file in the File Name listed below to the System Folder. You can use QikFix's "Extract a File" on the "Verify System Files" tab to install the file.

For Windows 2000 and XP: 
You will need to edit the Registry Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ keyboard layout\ preload, change the "1" value setting to the Key name listed below next to the keyboard layout name you want. You will also need to expand the file in the File Name listed below to the System32 Folder. You can use System Sentry's "Inflate a File" feature to install the file.
